BEFORE STARTING:

A fancafe is some sort of forum. Almost every celebrity in South Korea has one on DAUM (platform). Each fancafe has their own boards, content and rules. Everyone can open a fancafe, the ones dedicated to celebrities are usually managed by their agencies.
This might also answer "why is leveling up so hard?". As you may know, Bangtan used to interact a lot with fans on Twitter before their debut but now it's impossible for them to do so because of their huge following. They do try to interact with us on the fancafe though as the number of members there is radically less significant (which is funny because the BTS fancafe is still the one with most members out of all the fancafes on Daum) than on other SNS accounts they have.
That being said, you might already start to understand that since they try to interact more with us through the fancafe, that means they're more vulnerable on there, which gives anti-fans the perfect opportunity to attack them on the fancafe. That is why we have "levels", in addition to that, the rules are quite (really) strict on there too and the staff members are constantly monitoring the fancafe.
So long story short: when you join the fancafe, we can't be sure whether or not you're actually an ARMY, so your access is restricted and you need to successfully pass the levelup test to prove that you are.
P.S. - them interacting more with fans on the fancafe does NOT mean they favour Korean fans, international fans can join it too. I think they might feel more comfortable on there since the fancafe is strictly managed and is overall a space space for both BTS and ARMY.

→ Associate Member / 준회원 : you automatically get this rank upon joining the fancafe. you don't have access to most boards, you can't publish posts or comments.
→ Regular Member / 정회원 : you have to successfully apply for levelup to get to this level. you have access to most boards, you can publish posts and comments. you don't have access to the paid boards.
→ VIP Member / 우수회원 : you have to purchase an official membership kit (ARMY). you have access to everything.
You can levelup by submitting your application! A set of new questions is available every Friday if you're interested in leveling up. You can answer it from FRIDAY to SUNDAY KST (Korea Standard Time), your application will be rejected if you send it on Monday or any other day actually. You have to answer them correctly and provide screenshot proofs to be eligible for levelup. The questions are usually said to "hard", but it's done on purpose to discourage anti-fans from joining the fancafe. However, this also means it's quite difficult for ARMYs to get in too.
NOTE - YOU CANNOT ANSWER A PREVIOUS SET OF QUESTIONS ONCE THE APPLICATION PERIOD IS OVER. You will have to wait for Friday to get the new questions!
The title of the post is usually: 등업신청_정회원 양식 (YYMMDD ver)

Don't forget to post your answers (from 1 to 4) under "SECRET" by clicking on this button on the bottom right!

When answers need to be in hangul/Korean, then YES. You have to answer in Korean when necessary. You can answer question 1 in English though if you want to. Here's my friend's application from last week as an example.

YES, they mean your real name. Apparently, you don't need to add your surname, I personally added it to be sure. Your post is going to be "SECRET" anyway so you don't need to worry about anyone seeing your personal information, except for the fancafe managers.
The gender is either "Female" (여) or "Male" (남). There aren't any other options for non-binary individuals though.
No, the Korean age system does NOT apply for non-Koreans. Just put your normal age/international age.
If you really want to answer question 1 in Korean and you don't know your country's name in hangul. Just go to Wikipedia, look for your country's page then switch the language to Korean and ta-da!
It's this one!

No, that's your Fancafe Nickname.
Go to the fancafe and click on the menu, the name at the bottom is your Fancafe Nickname.

No, it's unnecessary.
The format. They're REALLY strict for this one question even when you get it right.
The right format is: YY/MM/DD
The wrong formats are:
Or any other variation, really. Just use the correct format.

You should NOT attach pictures with the post containing your answers. Your screenshots should be posted under your application post in (2) COMMENTS. Don't forget to lock your comments! The main post should ONLY include questions from 1 to 4!

Yes, it is. Just follow the requirements and you're good.

Set your "Privacy" to "Manager" in your fancafe profile settings. They might refuse your application if it's not done.

Put your DAUM ID in the search bar of the fancafe, your post should show up. If not, then submit another application. Applications usually get deleted when you post them in the wrong board.

I personally waited three weeks to get mine. It depends on how many applications they have to review. Just be patient.
They will send you a notification whether you leveled up or not.

You can. You just need to go back and delete your second application if your first one is accepted. If your first application is refused then at least you have another one already posted!
I don't know. I suggest switching your phone to Korean or English to be sure.
Nope! Once you're leveled up, you don't need to apply again.
